April 20, 2017 San Anselmo Flood Risk Reduction Project EIR Public Scoping Meeting

The County conducted a public scoping meeting for the San Anselmo Flood Risk Reduction Project EIR on April 20, 2017 at 7:00 PM at San Anselmo Town Hall. Download the meeting presentation and the Notice of Preparation (NOP) to obtain details for submitting written comments by the close of the NOP comment period at 4:00p on May 8, 2017.

February 16, 2017 Program Environmental Impact Report Public Scoping Meeting

The County conducted a public scoping meeting on Thursday February 16, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Marin Art and Garden Center Studio Room, and the Notice of Preparation (click here for Notice of Preparation) and Powerpoint from the meeting were provided for those in attendence.


November 30, 2016 Upper Ross Valley Community Workshop

A community workshop focusing on the Upper Ross Valley area of the program was held at Drake High School from 6pm to 8pm (click here for flyer). A presentation and informational stations were provided for those in attendance.

 


November 15, 2016 Morningside/Lower Sleepy Hollow Creek Neighborhood Meeting

A Morningside area neighborhood meeting was held on November 15 at 7:00p in the Mt. Tam Room of the Isabel Cook Community Center to discuss the study results of the front door threshold and creek bank surveying, and to discuss next steps. October 5, 2016 Program Update to Fairfax Town Council

A Program update and informational presentation to the Fairfax Town Council was given at their regularly scheduled Council meeting on October 5, 2016.


October 1, 2016 Sleepy Hollow Creek Cleaning

The Sleepy Hollow community held their 4th annual creek cleaning day where creekside residents cleaned out drainage areas and creeks on their property in preparation for the winter. A free chipper station for all excess branches at the end of Butterfield courtesy of Sleepy Hollow Fire Protection District and FIRESafe Marin.


August 22, 2016 US Army Corps Project Community Meeting at Ross School

A community meeting was held to discuss the Corte Madera Creek Flood Control Project, commonly referred to as Unit 4, Unit 3 and Unit 2. The meeting provided a presentation on progress of the feasiblity study and an opportunity for additional public input.


July 7, 2016 Lower Sleepy Hollow Creek (Morningside) Neighborhood Meeting

A neighborhood meeting was held on Thursday July 7, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Isabel Cook Community Center to describe and answer questions on the upcoming house & creek land survey and study in the Morningside neighborhood. View the presentation slides, exhibits and meeting notes & Q&As.


April 25, 2016 Community Meeting on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Corte Madera Creek Flood Control Project

Congressman Jared Huffman, Supervisor Katie Rice, and the Army Corps of Engineers hosted a community discussion on proposed flood control projects in the Corte Madera Creek floodplain on April 25 at the Ross School Gymnasium. The meeting provided an opportunity for additional public input & supplemental review of the scope of work for the proposed projects in the Corte Madera Creek, commonly referred to as Unit 4, Unit 3, and Unit 2. April 20, 2016 Corte Madera Creek Walk

A great group of engaged people joined in a leisurely walk and information talk for our Creek Walk event along the Army Corps Project area. More Creek Walks will be planned after this event.


February 4, 2016 Community Meeting at White Hill Middle School

On February 4, 2016, a community meeting was held at White Hill Middle School in Fairfax to learn about the Program; hear how a dual-use facility at Lefty Gomez Field could both improve existing grass play fields & help reduce flooding. December 26, 2015 Presentation to the Marin Conservation League

Staff met with the Marin Conservation League to provide updates to their membership on the Ross Valley Flood Protection and Watershed Program


October 3, 2015 Sleepy Hollow Community Creek Cleaning Day

September 26, 2015 Murphy Creek in Kentfield Creek Care Workshop

Thanks to the 25 residents in Kentfield in the Murphy Creek area who attended the creek care workshop on September 26, 2015. Armed with information from the workshop and motivation to do work before the rains, this neighborhood group organized quickly to schedule a community-wide creek clean-up event two weeks later on October 10. Great work!

September 1, 2015 Presentation to the Ross Valley School District

Staff provided updates and information to the Ross Valley School District Board on Lefty Gomez, Loma Alta, Deer Park, Brookside, and Hidden Valley concepts that are located on school district property.


January 27, 2015 Fairfax Neighborhood Meeting Held

Approximately 25 residents gathered on Tuesday evening, January 27, 2015 at the Canon Swim & Tennis Club House to hear updates and provide input on the Loma Alta and the Lefty Gomez Dual Use Detention Basins concepts. There was excellent audience participation during the presentation, and there will be future meetings that will provide additional opportunities for public input. December 13, 2014 Open House Held

The Marin County Flood Control & Water Conservation District held an Open House on Saturday, December 13th at the Ross Valley Fire Station in San Anselmo. Over 125 people attended, including U.S. Congressman Jared Huffman, representatives from Assemblyman Levine's Office, FEMA headquarters, U.S Army Corps of Engineers, the National Weather Service, Flood Control Zone 9 Advisory Board members, and the Marin County Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program. November 15, 2014 Sleepy Hollow Creek Restoration Workshop

Sleepy Hollow residents participated in a creek restoration workshop on November 15, 2014, put on by John Parodi with STRAW and Harold Appleton with Prunuske Chatham, Inc.

Participants had a hands-on experience working with bio-technical erosion control techniques: installing a willow wattle and planting willow starts to shore up an eroded bank, and clearing non-natives and planting an elderberry tree along with native grasses to hold soil in place. They also learned about permits required for working near watercourses, preventing soil from entering creeks during restoration projects, water quality factors, erosion control techniques, choosing native plants, how to plant and protect native plants, soils, yard waste, fertilizer, weeds, local nurseries and more. November 2, 2013 Morningside Neighborhood Community Meeting

A meeting was held at 1000 Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, San Anselmo from 9-10:30 a.m. to hear concerns and receive input regarding the Morningside Neighborhood flooding on November 2nd 2013. Review the Morningside Community Meeting Presentation


September 7, 2013 Sleepy Hollow Creek Cleanup

The Sleepy Hollow community stepped up and removed over 1,100 cubic yards of debris and vegetation from Sleepy Hollow creek on September 7, 2013. Led by Supervisor Rice and her staff with expert guidance from Flood Control creek specialist Bene DaSilva, the community volunteers stepped forward and did the heavy lifting.
